Regular meetings on the first Thursday of the month from September-May at 7:00 p.m. in the community center. Post sponsors many youth programs, including the Legion baseball team, Boys and Girls State, Youth Troop Academy, Oratory Contest and in-class presentations, and many adult programs, such as veteran assistance, Veterans and Memorial Day programs with memorial flags at the cemetery and avenue of flags on Main Street for holidays, and Honor and Color Guard detail for community events and veteran funerals. These service programs can be expensive to maintain. Thank you to the community for helping make all of these activities possible by supporting fundraising efforts like the Poultry Party bingo and soup and pancake days. Castlewood Education Foundation
The Castlewood Education Foundation is a 501(C)(3) non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to enhance, enrich and encourage educational opportunities for all students in the Castlewood School District. We believe public education excellence is vital and should be attainable for all. We are dedicated to uniting the efforts of alumni, local business owners, commercial groups and individuals in supporting our public school.
The Foundation is managed by a volunteer Board of Directors who operate independent of the Castlewood School District. Directors, who are drawn from the community and alumni, meet regularly and function in accordance with adopted by-laws.
Current projects include Innovative Education Grants, ROSE Award, scholarships for graduating seniors.
Donations to the foundation may be made in a number of ways depending on your budget:

The Castlewood Historical Society was organized in May 1988 with 20 charter members and one honorary member, Grace Ellefson, whose family contributed much history to our city. Our motto is “Preserving the Past for the Future.” Our goal is to preserve the rich history of Castlewood and the surrounding area.
The society received a substantial grant from the Gaylord Hoftiezer estate to promote the preservation of historic sites, buildings, and properties in Castlewood, with priority given to Main Street businesses. Castlewood Days Committee
The committee holds fund raisers throughout the year to promote Castlewood Days and plans activities for the event, which is held the second weekend in August each year. New ideas are always welcome and anyone can volunteer/help with planning. Meetings are held, but not scheduled out.
